Dance Team Agreement

 Manitoba Dance Festival,
Competition & Team Information

In addition to regular classes listed under General Programs, we have performing teams which are open by audition only (ages 6 and up).  

RSDA will be holding Auditions for their Festival/Competition Teams for the 2009/2010 year. There will be an open Audition held on Monday, August 31/09. All students ages 6 and up will be welcome to audition.

Goals and Philosophies for Performing Teams

1)      Uniform standard of levels

2)      Offers opportunities for performances

3)      Creates life long bonds between students working together

4)      Teaches children to work together as a team

5)      Creates knowledge of commitment and dedication

Auditions

Auditions for duos, trios, or small groups will be held in October or November at the discretion of the school. Students must have two or more years experience and be eight years or older to audition. Any students eight years and up wishing to be considered to participate in duos, trios, small groups or large groups, in Ballet, Jazz or Lyrical Jazz must be taking one or more Ballet classes. Hip Hop and Tap participation must be taking one or more classes of that discipline or other dance classes. Other dance forms will be at the teachers discretion.

Competition/ Festival rehearsals will be scheduled according to teacher's availability.

- Solos – must be taking that dance discipline to participate. Parents and students must approach individual coaches.

There is a Mandatory Rap Session Meeting in November for all team members, performers of competitions, Festivals and parents. This meeting will give you all the information needed for upcoming competitions & festivals. It is important that both parents & child attend if under the age of 18.

Only 12-13 spots per team are available.
Once team spots are filled the 2^nd audition may be cancelled.
